Ways To Donate

Housing Opportunities Made Equal, Inc. is Virginia's only non-profit fair housing organization and the home of many of the nation's leaders in the fair housing and non-profit arenas. HOME's work is funded through government grants and foundations, grants from foundations and corporations, matching gifts, program revenues, and the Virginia Equal Housing Foundation (VEHF).  The VEHF was created in 2000 with proceeds from HOME's landmark red-lining case against Nationwide insurance.  HOME seeks to balance these funding sources each year, so that organizational funding is balanced among the many different voices in housing equality.*

The existence of VEHF puts HOME in a position of financial stability and protects HOME's ability to do work that might be controversial or unpopular.  HOME's supporters recognize the importance of preserving as much of the Foundation's capital as possible, insuring that HOME will be well-funded to pursue a mission that is unlikely to be fulfilled in our generation.  Gifts to our annual operating fund or membership in the Friends of HOME Society place you as an investor in an innovative and successful non-profit with multi-generational goals.

HOME greatly appreciates your financial support. Please consider supporting equal access to housing for all people in Virginia by making a donation today.

Friends of HOME Society

The Friends of HOME Society is a group of supporters who are committed to HOME's long term mission and financial stability.  Members make a financial commitment to HOME in the amount of $200, $1000, or $2000 for each of five years.  Members of the FOH Society receive advance notice of HOME's news, invitations to private events, and are included in the creation of HOME's Policy Priorities each year.  The Friends of HOME Society also hosts an annual breakfast to engage members and the community in HOME’s mission while celebrating progress.

For more information on Friends of HOME Society and being a member, please contact Toni Maxey by phone (804) 354-0641 Ext. 156 or Email tmaxey@phonehome.org

Contributing Stocks and Securities

The donation of stocks and securities can help fund HOME's programs long term, as well as potentially providing you with a federal income charitable tax deduction or the avoidance of capital gains tax.

Please call Betsy Scott, HOME's Director of Finance, for details on how to donate your stocks or securities at (804) 354-0641 Ext. 104 or Email bscott@phonehome.org

Planned Giving

Including HOME in your estate planning creates the opportunity to make a lasting and meaningful contribution to the future of HOME.  As you no doubt realize, HOME's Seven Stepping Stones to Equality are multi-generational goals.  Our job, right now, is to pave as much of the road to equality as we can and clear the path for future generations.

A planned gift, which can be allocated to either HOME's operating fund or the Virginia Equal Housing Foundation endowment, ensures that HOME staff and volunteers will be able to pursue equality for the long term.  Planned giving can also create opportunities for you to reduce your income tax liability, pass assets on to your heirs while paying lower taxes, avoid capital gains tax, and other attractive features.

Thank you for your interest and we ask you to please consider another form of giving to HOME.
